Musket Corporation Opens Diesel Exhaust Fluid Facility Near Chicago

OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 21, 2017 – Musket Corporation, the trading and logistics arm of the Love’s Family of Companies, recently opened a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) wholesale bulk rack in Blue Island, Illinois, at 3415 W. 127th Street, approximately 20 miles south of Chicago. The Blue Island facility is the company’s 13th DEF location, and its second in Illinois.

DEF is a NOx abatement fluid that converts harmful emissions from diesel engines to nitrogen and water. Widespread use of DEF began in response to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Air Act. Diesel engine manufacturers have relied on selective catalytic reduction technology (SCR) since 2010 to reduce nitrous oxide emissions from exhaust gases.

“Blue Island is an ideal location for our newest DEF facility because of its proximity to the Chicago metropolitan area,” said Brian Hoover, manager of DEF for Musket. “Several Love’s Travel Stops in the area and our third-party wholesale Customers now have quick and reliable access to a crucial product.”

Musket’s network of 13 DEF terminals spans 10 states, with additional locations planned for 2018. All facilities are located close to Love’s Travel Stops stores to easily provide 24/7 access to DEF and they produce the highest quality product, meeting ISO 22241 standards. DEF has been available at the pump alongside diesel at all Love’s locations nationwide since 2010. Musket began producing DEF in 2014 to address increasing market demand, supply redundancy concerns and logistical optimization opportunities.
