Food City 500 provides best finish of year for Buescher

One of the most popular venues in all of NASCAR produced Chris Buescher's best finish of the 2016 season so far.

The driver of the #34 Love's Ford Fusion started 21st and finished 21st in the Food City 500 on Sunday. However, Buescher knows he was close to an even better finish.

"It was a good day for our Love's Travel Stops Ford Fusion. Just wish we could've gotten a little better ending. Lining up there at the end just got us. We were 14th on the board, and we were lined up 13th or 15th on the bottom for the restart. I don’t really know. This track is so line-sensitive now, and it’s so hard to pass that there’s not much we could do on the bottom on restarts except try to get to the top and get rolling. It wasn’t a bad day, though. We had a lot of speed there and it was fun racing," Buescher said.

It's always fun at Bristol. Bristol Motor Speedway is distinct with its high banking, and it's notoriously loud. It holds more than 160,000 people and is often called The Last Great Colosseum.

Carl Edwards won the Food City 500 with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch, Chase Elliott and Trevor Bayne rounding out the Top 5.

Buescher's next race in the #34 Love's Ford Fusion will be on May 1 in the Alabama 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.
