Three letters. One meaning. FTK.

For The Kids - These words mean so much to me. From the founding of SMU Dance Marathon’s executive board to the actual event, Dance Marathon has made its mark on SMU's campus.

Nov.12, as a first-year organization, SMU Dance Marathon raised $32,221.52 for the kids at Children's Health, the local Children's Miracle Network Hospital in Dallas, Texas. We danced for twelve hours - learning the morale dance, playing dodgeball, participating in a rave hour and also competing in a lip sync battle. At one point, SMUDM even participated in the Mannequin Challenge, which was fun for all dancers and Miracle Kids involved.

In those 12 hours, we met seven amazing miracle families, who all shared their stories and inspired the dancers to keep dancing, no matter what. It was worth it to see the smiles on their faces and to hear how Children's Health provides the best possible care for those Miracle Kids. Each heartfelt story reminded us why we do this. FTK. For the kids. Always and in all ways.

A group of SMU students had a vision and brought that dream to life a year later. It’s amazing to see how college students can impact their community when they work together to achieve a common goal.
