Job shadowing event sheds light on corporate world for students

Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization that educates kindergarten through 12th grade students about entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy. Love's has been a proud supporter of JA through fundraisers, donations and volunteering. For the second consecutive year, Love's corporate office hosted high school students for JA Job Shadow Day.

Fourteen Love's employees mentored 24 students from Capitol Hill High School. Students and mentors engaged in three 30-minute activities, including a campus tour, professionalism and ethics discussions, and mock interviews.

"This event gives us an opportunity to show students a corporate environment and provide insight into the career opportunities," said Stephanie Easterly, Loves's human resources coordinator. "These students come from a wide range of backgrounds and for some this is the first time inside a corporate office."

During the campus tour, students went to five designated stops around campus to meet employees from various departments to learn about their daily work and how Love's serves Customers. Students also examined resumes and learned about business attire.

"We are excited about how the event turned out and look forward to future events," said Easterly. "We were thrilled to host them and hopefully made an impact as they begin taking steps towards their careers."
