Diesel technician finds his home: “I plan to retire at Love’s.”

When Cameron Barnett joined Love's two years ago, the diesel technician had no idea he found the company where he hopes to retire. But that's what's happened since he walked into the doors at the Love's Truck Care location in Waddy, Kentucky.

"There are so many positives that come along with working at Love's," Cameron said. "The management team has guided me since day one to become the best version of myself. That along with the many benefits we get are just a few reasons I plan to retire at Love's."

In his short two years with the company, Cameron has wasted no time in breaking records and setting the bar for truck care technicians. He was named Love's 2020 Mechanic of the Year and has set numerous internal records for the company.

"Being successful takes hard work, but that's not something I'm afraid of." he said. "I come into work early and fill in if someone needs me to."

He also wants those who are considering a job at Love's Truck Care or Speedco to know something: You don't have to know everything - just show up and work hard.

This year, Cameron trained his own apprentice who recently graduated from Love's Apprentice Program. The former student knows he can always call on Cameron with questions, and Cameron will be there for him. Cameron used his experience to help his apprentice be successful.

"Do more listening, take notes and don't get discouraged. Love's keeps its team members safe and there's always room for growth," Cameron said to his former apprentice.

Since working at Love's, Cameron has made several personal accomplishments he credits to hard work and opportunities at Love's.

"The compensation at Love's is better than anywhere I've worked before. I've been able to buy a new truck, pay off tool bills and move my family into a bigger home. I also soon plan to purchase my first home thanks to Love's," he said.

If you or someone you know is looking to join the company as a diesel technician, service advisor, tire technician or diesel apprentice, visit jobs.loves.com. Love's has over 410 truck service centers in 41 states.

Love's prestigious diesel technician apprenticeship program - valued at $12,000 - allows apprentices to earn a competitive wage while working toward the designation of a diesel technician, all while taking on zero debt, which is typically associated with apprenticeship programs. Upon successful completion of the apprentice program, apprentices will receive a tool kit valued at $3,500, which is theirs to keep after one year of employment as a diesel technician. Newly hired diesel technicians can make between $22-$32 an hour, plus commission after achieving certain sales milestones.
