Annual golf tournament raises $625,000 for Texas Children’s Hospital
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals event breaks another company fundraising recordHouston, Oct. 13, 2025 – Musket Corp. and Love’s Alternative Energy both companies of Love’s, raise $625,000 at its 12th annual Drive for a Child fundraiser campaign benefiting Texas Children’s Hospital to improve the lives of children. Since 2013, the companies have raised more than $4.25 million for Texas Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (CMNH).
“We are proud of this annual tradition that continues to grow each year, thanks to the unwavering support of our valued sponsors who are helping raise funds to change children’s lives and advance their health,” said JP Fjeld-Hansen, executive vice president of Musket and Love’s Alternative Energy. “This year’s event, held at Top Golf in Spring, Texas, marked another milestone with more funds raised and appreciated attendees all in support of our partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital and goal to make a life-changing difference for children and their families.”
Funds raised this year will help make a meaningful difference for patients like Omar, Texas Children’s 2025 Miracle Child. Diagnosed before birth with Trisomy 13, also known as Patau Syndrome, Omar faced a rare and serious genetic condition caused by an extra chromosome 13. This condition can lead to multiple health challenges, including heart defects, cleft lip and palate, weak muscle tone, vision impairment, and abnormalities in the brain and spinal cord. Commonly, only 5–10% of babies born with Trisomy 13 survive beyond their first year. Immediately after birth, Omar required a two-week stay in Texas Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and was later re-admitted due to breathing complications. Despite these challenges, Omar has continued to grow stronger and healthier, thanks to the expert care and support provided by Texas Children’s Hospital.
Today, Omar is home-schooled and learning to communicate through assistive technology. He receives physical, aquatic, speech, occupational and equine therapy. He enjoys music and mall walking in his gait trainer where he is often greeted by other mall walkers who know him. Although Omar receives most of his nutrition through a feeding tube, at times he can still enjoy specific foods by mouth. Support for Texas Children’s Hospital makes high-quality healthcare possible for thousands of children like Omar.
“We are deeply grateful for the continued support Musket and Love’s provides through their annual Drive for a Child event,” said Jennifer Smart, manager of philanthropy at Texas Children’s Hospital. “Every gift raised helps turn life-changing discoveries into reality, allowing us to reach and care for more children facing serious health challenges.”
Texas Children’s Hospital, a not-for-profit health care organization, is committed to creating a healthier future for children and women throughout the global community by leading in patient care, education, and research. Consistently ranked as the best children’s hospital in Texas, and among the top in the nation, Texas Children’s has garnered widespread recognition for its expertise and breakthroughs in pediatric health.
